Dr. Liu received postdoctoral tutorship from professor Li Yuhang and he learned acupuncture and moxibustion from Chinese medicine master professor He Puren. He also studied with tenured professor Yan Juntao and learned massage techinques from 973 Chief Scientist Fang Min, Pediatrics from the famous TCM doctor Song Zuomin. In addition, Dr. Liu has studied with Wudang and Qingcheng medical experts on Taoist medicine and Neidan (internal alchemy). He practiced martial arts such as Tai Ji, Xing Yi, Eight Trigram Palm,Yi Jinjing and Shaolin internal qigong since childhood with famous martial artist Xia Baihua, Cheng Rongxiang, Wang Xin and others.
Dr. Liu has complied and published Wu Xing Jian Gu Cao (Five Elements Bone Healing Exercises), and Learn the Exercise for Strengthening Internal Organs within One Minute: Shaolin Health-preserving qigong series which were recorded and aired by the China National Radio (CNR).
His cervical spondylosis related research has achieved the second prize of science and technology progress from the China Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. Dr. Liu has been rewarded with the title of Doctor with High Patient Satisfaction for three consecutive years.
